USASA Nationals

In Uncategorized on April 7, 2012 at 11:10 AM

Sorry for the lack of posts lately but there really hasn’t been much going on since I got back from London.

But the other day I competed in the USASA Nationals which is probably the biggest Amateur contest in the USA.

We started really early which wasn’t fun and the pipe was really icy but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I went for it on my first run and fell but i was fine with that I knew my safety run would be enough to make Finals so I pulled that out in my second run and it landed me in 5th place so I was into the Finals with a score of 77.3.

Finals came around and I just went for it. There was no holding back, I had done what I came I do which was make finals. Both runs I fell on a backside 900 which I wasn’t happy about because I didn’t fall on any all week leading upto the competition. But I’m happy I got a good result.

US Open

I’ve been super busy since the Mammoth Grand Prix, we took a red eye flight from LA to Detroit then flew to Albany. Then the next day we had practice then competed the following day.

I was able to put down my first run in Pre-qualifiers which got me through to the next round of Qualifiers.
I ended up 26th out of 64 which I was happy about.

The next round took a very long time and just before the men’s second runs it got dark and it had to be postponed.
Probably the longest day I’ve spend snowboarding, sunrise to sunset.

So this morning we got to finish our second runs. I was able to land, but under rotated my frontside 900 and put my hands on the wall. I ended up 29th out of 40 today. So I’m pretty happy.

Now we have a few days to kill until the Revolution tour here in Vermont next week.

Second run didn’t go as well I went for it and tried a new trick second hit and wasn’t able to land. But I’m really happy I landed my first run.

Right now we are hanging out at the airport in Mammoth waiting to do the trek to Vermont for the US Open.
